Mika has always had a passion for hair and started working as a stylist part-time at only 16. After earning a license in cosmetology, she studied at New York’s renowned Fashion Institute of Technology, with a focus on photography. While studying, she diligently focused on honing her skills, working part-time as a stylist at Salon A•K•S. Shortly after graduating from FIT, Mika joined the team at Salon A•K•S, training closely with founders Alain, Kao and Susanna.
During her time at Salon A•K•S, Mika has established herself as a special occasion specialist and is an integral member of the salon’s highly respected bridal beauty team. But, it’s not just brides that tap Mika for her expertise. Mika is constantly sought after by New York’s most prominent socialites, editors and many of the city’s well heeled, fashion forward crowd. Always in demand, Mika frequently travels and makes house calls to accommodate the needs of her loyal clientele.
Mika signature style stems from her experience as a mother of three. She has a keen awareness of the importance of multi-tasking and that clients often need great service in a short amount of time. She will work with each client to find looks best suited to their lifestyle and teach them how to create them on their own. Utilizing skills learned in art and fashion, Mika’s haircuts are designed to frame an individual’s face and body for optimum balance and proportion.
In addition to her work with clients at Salon A•K•S, Mika has also established herself as a go-to expert in the fashion and editorial worlds. Mika’s work has been seen in fashion shows for Ralph Lauren, Jenni Kayne and Alfred Angelo. In New York Magazine’s “Best of New York,” Mika was recognized for giving the best blow-dry in the city. She has also been featured in The New York Times, Allure, Brides.com, Self, InStyle Weddings, InStyle and Ladies Home Journal, to name a few.
